The mission is to expand economic opportunities for area residents by increasing capital investment in the City/County, expanding the tax base, and retaining and/or creating jobs. Idea candidate would have hands on experience and a proven track record in retention & expansion of existing business & industry; retail development, working with entrepreneurs to encourage & support new business start-ups, business recruitment, & administration of revolving loan funds.
Salary Range: $45,000 to $75,000, with starting salary depending upon qualifications and a benefits package.
Must have the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with city staff to engage community leaders & area residents to implement public facilities, infrastructure improvements, and creative placemaking to develop a sustainable community to attract and retain young professionals & entrepreneurs.
The position requires a high degree of organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to complete independent projects as well as to work in a team environment and the adaptability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Must have excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to deal effectively with a wide array of stakeholders. Desired minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, marketing, real estate development, public administration, business administration or related field with three (3) years paid full time experience in economic and business development. Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation is a plus.
