A full day event, with lunch included, the event will be held at the OSU-OKC Campus Student Center, 900 N. Portland Ave, Oklahoma City, 73107.
Our sessions are designed to support the strategic role of HR in workforce readiness by educating business and HR professionals on the importance of hiring individuals with core competencies demonstrated by the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) which prepares individuals to meet 80% of the job qualifications of the more than 14,000 jobs profiled by ACT. Through the use of strategic application of Oklahoma's work ready resources and tools, businesses will be more positioned to find skilled workers. The effect will increase employee retention thereby reducing turnover and unemployment claims.
Areas of HR impacted include recruiting, hiring, performance standards, employee development, and turnover metrics. Lisa Horn, Senior Government Relations Advisor, of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) will be our featured speaker. Her presentation, "The New Imperative for Business Success and HR Leadership" focuses on how workplace flexibility has become a key business strategy to leverage the talents and skills of today’s increasingly diverse, aging, and multi-generational workforce. Lisa will discuss how flexible work arrangements such as job sharing, flexible scheduling, phased retirement, and telecommuting can drive employee engagement, productivity, retention, and benefit your organization’s bottom line. She will also examine key HR strategies for implementing flexibility as well as legal issues to consider. Plus, you will hear about new resources and opportunities as a result of SHRM’s partnership with the Families and Work Institute, including the “When Work Works” initiative, introducing the Sloan Award, which recognizes businesses who have successfully applied effective and flexible workplace strategies, yielding positive business results to help employees succeed at work and home.
