Benge named Legislative Advocate of the Year by state economic developers

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Speaker of the House, Chris Benge, (R-District 68) was named Legislative Advocate of the Year for 2008 by the Oklahoma Professional Economic Development Council (OEDC). Speaker Benge accepted this award as part of Economic Development Day at the State Capitol on Wednesday. 

 “Benge has provided great leadership and we commend him for his bi-partisan approach to legislative initiatives and actions”, stated Janet Yowell, OEDC Legislative Committee Chair.  “As well as being familiar with the financial and budget needs in our state, Benge understands Oklahoma’s business issues, which is an asset to Oklahoma’s continued economic development growth and expansion.” 

Benge joins a list of distinguished past recipients including President Pro-Tempore Senator Glenn Coffee and Senator Susan Paddack.  Former legislators who received this award include Representative Susan Winchester, former Speaker of the House Todd Hiett, Representative Clay Pope, Senator Scott Pruitt, Senator Dave Herbert, Senator Jim Maddox, former House Speaker Lloyd Benson, Representative Jack Bonny, Senator Ted Fisher and Representative Don McCorkell.
