The newly created Shawnee Forward organization in Shawnee Oklahoma is seeking a dynamic executive to lead the organization’s collaborative community building efforts.
The President and CEO will report to a board of directors, which may be composed of both public and private sector leaders.
The leadership and members of the Greater Shawnee Chamber of Commerce and the Shawnee Economic Development Foundation recently merged two organizations to form the Shawnee Forward organization, a 501c6. This merger combines the resources and benefits of two long-standing community minded organizations, both of which have a long and successful history of leadership and benefit to the community.
The Shawnee Forward organization is in place to lead the Shawnee area and surrounding region, in both community and economic development efforts. Shawnee Forward brings together the resources, commitment, and energy of both the chamber and economic development organizations, and will be the lead marketing and business attraction/retention entity for the community.
In addition to business attraction and retention, Shawnee Forward will work to build a stronger entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem, to also support private employers in identifying, recruiting and developing talent, and act as a unified, collaborative voice to all of the businesses that calls this community home.
Shawnee Forward seeks an executive with the strategic leadership ability, chamber of commerce and economic development management skills and credentials to implement a long-term vision, and the ability to help develop a overall strategic plan for the organization.
The successful candidate will also have the skills and ability required to lead and develop a professional team to support both the chamber of commerce and economic development initiatives.
The Executive Director/CEO operates in a high-profile role and must be capable of strengthening and expanding the strong alliances with key business, public, education, chambers and economic development leaders in the region.
Qualifications – Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in public or business administration or related field or at least five years of work experience including public administration, chamber of commerce, economic development, or business management that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
Candidates who have a certification or designation from one of the following professional organizations is a plus.
US Chamber, Institute of Management designation, (IOM).
Association of Chamber of Commerce, Certified Chamber Executive designation, (CCE).
International Economic Development Council, Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) certification.
Qualified candidates will exhibit proven leadership experience in developing a new organization, which has the ability to work with local, county and state leaders.
Compensation for the position will be based upon the candidates experience and professional qualifications.
