Heartland Basic Economic Development Course Scholarship

The Heartland Economic Development Course (HEDC) offers intensive training in the basic concepts, information, methods, and strategies of local economic development. A diverse and experienced faculty, composed of both academicians and practitioners, gives an excellent blend of theory and practice. Course content is oriented toward practical applications. Graduation from HEDC fulfills one of the education prerequisites for those who wish to take examinations for Certified Economic Development (CEcD) designation.

Presented by: Heartland Economic Development Course, Inc., with the Institute for Decision Making at the University of Northern Iowa, in partnership with the Kansas Economic Development Alliance, Professional Developers of Iowa, Missouri Economic Development Council, Nebraska Economic Developers Association, Oklahoma Professional Economic Development Council (OEDC) and South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development

  • Applicants must be residents of and work in Oklahoma.
  • Applicants must be members in good standing of OEDC and engaged in Economic Development.
  • Applicants must be committed to professional development (as detailed in the application)
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need (as detailed in the application)
  • Recipients must be willing to complete required course work.
  • Recipients will be responsible for all expenses not covered by the scholarship.
