Chamber Announces New Economic Development Leader

Kurt Foreman will join the Chamber team as Executive Vice President of Economic Development

OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug. 22, 2012 – The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber announced today that Kurt Foreman will be joining the staff as Executive Vice President, Economic Development. The announcement follows a national search conducted by the organization.

Foreman currently serves as President of the North Louisiana Economic Partnership. He previously worked in economic development organizations in Pittsburgh, Pa.; Oshkosh, Wis.; Fairfax County, Va. and Washington, D.C. He also worked as a site consultant, working directly with companies to choose new locations.

“Kurt offers a rare combination of skills,” explained Roy Williams, President and CEO. “Our search drew a number of highly qualified candidates from peer cities. It quickly became evident that his breadth of experience in recruitment and retention of companies, developing and implementing entrepreneurship and retail development programs, and his background as a site consultant make him an ideal choice for this position.”

In his new role, Foreman will lead efforts to attract new business and investment to the market, retain and grow existing businesses, support innovation and entrepreneurial development, and attract destination retail businesses. He will also work closely with leaders from Oklahoma City’s bioscience, aviation, energy and creative industry clusters to support their growth.

“I'm pleased to be joining a dynamic team in a city and region that many feel is at the forefront of how partnerships and economic development should be done,” said Foreman. “I look forward to working alongside the many partners and engaged leaders to achieve an even more vibrant economy in the Oklahoma City area. I'm honored that the Chamber chose me.”

Foreman received his bachelor’s degree at Franklin & Marshall College and his master’s degree at Wake Forest University. Foreman will begin his work at the Chamber on Sept. 24.
